How can I wean myself off blood pressure medication? I have

This answer was rated:

How can I wean myself off blood pressure medication? I have started exercisng about 1 hour per day as of last week. When I can't walk much outside I use my treadmill. I also, do breathing exercises on my Resperate machine. I was not taking any medication until I went to doctor for another issue and my blood pressure spiked. I am now taking Lisinopril. My bloodwork was good, by the way. I have lost about 4 pounds in the past few weeks.

Hi there,
This is Dr. D.J., experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Lisinopril can be weaned off with relative ease.
Initially, the dose needs to be halved, meaning you should take half the tablet daily for 2 weeks.
Then you can discontinue the medication.
You should check your blood pressure regularly after reducing your dose and then after discontinuing it.
If the blood pressure remains normal ( target 130/80), then you do not need any medication.
Please discuss with your doctor also.

Best wishes
