welcome back to the site :-)
Have you had a sleep test done?
not a sleep apnea, but sleep studu?
Yes I had a sleep study done twice. First time I was told I had no problem then they called back and said a problem showed up the second half of the study and it was repeated with the end result I was put on a CPap machine
this was when you went to a special facility and had the study done. they put electrodes on your head
Yes it was
why do you wake up?
Usually it is because I have to use the restroom. This may occur once a night
have you seen a doctor for that?
Occasionally there might be a loud noise
I have frequent bladder infections which are treated and a thorough kidney exam showed no major problems
do you have any issues with your urine stream ?
how about an enlarged prostate?
I'm a femal
I don't have a prostate
i beg your pardon
I didn't see that
Do you have an overactive bladder?
i wouldn't say so
why do you think that you are waking to pee?
I do take a diuretic so that could be why
well, once you wake up, it is really hard to get back to sleep
and as we get older, our ability to fall asleep worsens
it is important to focus on KEEPING you asleep
yes I feel wide awake and sometimes get up and do other things til I feel drowsy again
can you take your diuretic at a different time?
why does age affect our ability to sleep
i take the diuretic early in the morning
my sleep patterns seem reversed
well, we don't make as much melatonin for one
like I am sleepy the bulk of the day then feel more alert around 6 in the evening
and our metabolism changes
you may want to change your sleep pattern.
It is probably 11 or 12 before I do get to sleep and then it's up and down during the wee hours
would taking melatonin help
Yes, it may help
check this out:
what doseage would be proper
I will check the site out too
In adults, melatonin is taken in doses from 0.2 to 20.0 mg, based on the reason for its use. T
Now, I would start with the lowest possible
I have the first one up and will check out the second later.
you always want to aim for the lowest amount of medication as possible, in every condition
I might ask too could this be heart related? in 2008 I had to have 2 stents put in place due to blockages. I went thru cardiac rehab and tests showed minimal or no heart damage.
I don't think so, usually you would have other symptoms during the day
but untreated reflux can also cause insomnia
you may want to eat a bland diet for a while and see if that helps
interesting as i do have that on occasion
of course practice good sleep hygeine
Go to sleep at the same time every day (even if you are not tired)No caffeinated beverages after noonNo eating less than 2 hours prior to bed timeExercise 30 minutes a day but not 2 hours prior to bed timeNo alcohol after dinner.
getting into a better routine might help
yeah. look at the routine I have above. that will help .
just like with babies :-)
we forget how much our bodies need routine
i don't drink alcohol however I do have a snack before bed.
animals, trees need it
So I am getting younger lol
yes, snack is not good
worsens your reflux
you can have a little milk
I do the snack because my blood sugar has been creeping up and I find eating smaller meals with the snacks keeps the numbers down.
you are going to have to finesse this
but make sure it is bland and see if you can make it as far away sleeping as possible
i understand it is a matter of changing my routine and tweeking other things I do
and i'm thinking not sleeping during the day would be important
yes, you don't want to do that
sounds good. Thank you for your help.
