Question to Trichologist aka "The Hair Doctor"
What type of blood test can I request my doctor to check the levels of essential elements in my body which cause hair growth.

Last May (2012) I had a gallbladder removal surgery and as result lost a lot of hair on the side and back of my head (I have bald patches above my ears). The extreme hair loss which lasted for about 6 months stopped and it is back to normal -100-200 hair a day. But I want to know if my organism is missing any minerals which boost hair growth. I really want to return at least 50% of the lost hair. And maybe I need to drink some vitamins.

Thanks,
Katya
Hello
Actually this is typical after surgery, and other major stresses.

It does not reflect a loss of minerals.

As far as supporting hair growth
biotin
B vitamins
zinc
magnesium
These levels can all be checked but do not correlate directly with this situation.

How do I figure out the dosage I need to take on daily basis of

biotin
B vitamins
zinc
magnesium

A B 100 complex, which will have biotin ion it.
zinc 15 mg a day.
magnesium 400 mg a day.

For 6 to 12 weeks, with the supervision of your doctor.
