Hi, i;m a 42 year old male 5/11 120kg, recently I had a DVT (3 weeks ago) injected with Ceylen (bad spelling) and have been on Warfarin . In the last week I have developed pains in my legs , my doctor doesn't seem concerned . I'm regularly feeling like I have the stitch or cramp close to ribs, any idea? She thinks its muscular. Took me off Warfarin over night to see if any improvement but its not.
Hello, this is Dr. David. I have read your question and I'm ready to help.

if you are on warfarin, chance of new DVTs in the leg are small. pain in the legs could be from low magnesium or low potassium. I guess that is why you are trying to eat more bananas.

bananas can sometimes cause constipation. this could be causing your cramp close to the ribs. are you constipated?

soemtimes excess stomach acid can cause cramps close to the left lower ribs.

what side are your rib cramps on?

gall bladder inflammation is usually under the right ribs.

Hi Dr

I'm eating bananas as fruit is the easiest way for me to loose weight. Ive lost approx 7kg since getting the DVT by doing this.

Rib cramps are both sides. No issues with constipation no.

I am on losec (or the new subsitutue)

My own doctor has checked blood pressure, cholestral etc in last 6 weeks and all is fine. Ive had 2 x ECGs and both ok too.

I see.

that is good.

if you are eating just fruit, you could be low on B12 vitamin which is usually found in meats. so make sure you take a multivitamin or B complex so you get iron and B12 in your diet.

make sure your doctors have checked your magneiusm level. long term use of losec or omeprazole can cause low magnesium levels.

thanks will low magnesium level causes cramping all over body?

can i take vitamin b with warfarin

My doctor as rung and my inr has dropped from 2.5 to 1.9

low magnesium can cause fatigue and cramping over the body.

yes, you can take vitamin B with warfarin. but you don't want to take extra vitamin K with warfarin.

you might have to adjust your warfarin dose up a bit and get retested in a few weeks.

good luck to you
