Hello, 50yr old male. My left nipple is consistently hard and erect. Sore to touch most of the time, like it is irritated already. Right side is also showing same symptoms but are intermittent. Any idea on causes? I have not seen my Doc yet for this. Rob
Hello, this is Dr. David. I have read your question and I'm ready to help.

could be due to a bacterial or fungal infection of the nipple.

you might benefit from antibacterial cream or antifungal cream to the nipples which could help.

sometimes increased blood prolactin levels can stimulate the nipples and cause this hardness and erection and nipple sensitivity.

you should make sure you get your blood prolactin levels checked.

do you have a doctor you can see who can examine your nipples and get your blood prolactin levels checked?
