I was diagnosed with ADHD-PI 11 months ago. For the past 8

Resolved Question:

I was diagnosed with ADHD-PI 11 months ago. For the past 8 months I have been on Adderall XR 20mg. I recently started Wellbutrin after talking with my primary care about Adderall's reduced effectiveness over time, dependency, tolerance, etc. I am currently on 75mg of the instant-release Wellbutrin, one pill, taken once daily. As I take it in the morning with the Adderall, I've been noticing a huge crash in the afternoon. I did research and found that the usual dosing of the instant-release formula is intended for 2-3 times daily - I am only taking one pill, once daily. Should I be taking the SR or XL formulas of Wellbutrin? This dose seems very tough to manage my mood and ADD symptoms.

Dr. Cameron :

hello

Dr. Cameron :

I am reading your question

Dr. Cameron :

You are right- it is given at least 2-3 times daily

Dr. Cameron :

I would to your talk to your doctor about changing formulations or dosage

Dr. Cameron :

Of note you are on a smallish dose

Dr. Cameron :

The usual adult dose is 300 mg/day, given 3 times daily. Dosing should begin at 200 mg/day, given as 100 mg twice daily

Dr. Cameron :

are you still there?
