Mysticdoc :

Hi there,

I am Mysticdoc, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.

I am here to help you with your concerns.

Mysticdoc :

Do you have any itching?

Mysticdoc :

Do you notice any redness?

Customer:

yes

Mysticdoc :

ok

Mysticdoc :

this is likely fungal infection.

Customer:

dry peeling skin also

Mysticdoc :

You can try over the counter ointments --clotrimazole and hydrocortisone.

Customer:

also have at base of penis

Mysticdoc :

Both ointments should be applied twice daily for 5 days.

Mysticdoc :

ok this is common from fungal infection.

Mysticdoc :

heat and sweat cause this.

Customer:

you believe this is a fungal infection?

Mysticdoc :

yes correct

Customer:

what brand of cream would you use?

Mysticdoc :

clotrimazole ( lotrimin), and hydrocortisone ( cortizone)

Customer:

I have used lotrimin and it has not helped

Customer:

would a pick help you? maybe could be yeast infection?

Mysticdoc :

you need to use both together.

Mysticdoc :

only lotrimin ma not help.

Mysticdoc :

yes you can post a pic?

Customer:

Customer:

Mysticdoc :

thanks for the pics.

Mysticdoc :

This is more likely eczema.

Mysticdoc :

Eczema is different from fungal infection.

Mysticdoc :

Hence, lotrimin will not help.

Mysticdoc :

You need a strong steroid cream like prescription strength fluocinolone.

Mysticdoc :

However, over the counter Cortizone may be tried.

Mysticdoc :

But I will suggest you to try prescription cream after discussing with your doctor.

Customer:

do not have a doctor

Mysticdoc :

you can try cortizone for a week.

Mysticdoc :

If that does not help, then you can go to the urgent care or walk in clinic for prescription strength cream.

Customer:

doyou still think it could be a fungal infection?

Mysticdoc :

that is less likely --looks more likely eczema.

Customer:

anything else it could be?

Mysticdoc :

No --not likely.

Customer:

so I should try lotrimin and cortisone for a week and if that does not help go get a prescription?

Mysticdoc :

correct.

Mysticdoc :

Usually it will in most cases.

Mysticdoc :

avoid applying soap.

Mysticdoc :

and you should consider changing to a soft detergent like Tide.

Customer:

what should wash with just water?

Mysticdoc :

warm water should be fine.

Customer:

ok thank you. should I follow up with you in a week?

Mysticdoc :

Yes I am glad to do that.

Customer:

what is best way to follow up?

Mysticdoc :

I will set that up for you.

Customer:

ok thank you

Mysticdoc :

very welcome

Mysticdoc :

Best wishes,
