The blood vessel in my right index finger keeps popping in

The blood vessel in my right index finger keeps popping in the middle joint. I can feel a bulge there and when I press on it it send shooting pains. It's purple in color. Why does this keep happening should I be concerned? Do I need to worry about a blot clot from it.
