Hello,

I am Dr Ken and I would be helping you today.

Do you have associated symptoms like passing blood in stool/ something fleshy {like skin tag} coming out of anus? Do you have constipation or diarrhea?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
No I have not noticed any blood nor have I been really constipated or had diarrhea recently.
Hello Tony,

I am happy that there are no associated symptoms.

Pain or discomfort while having bowel movement indicates irritation of the mucosa of the rectum. The cause can be varied - infection/ inflammation/ dehydration/ hemorrhoids. Smoking, excess caffeine intake or having spicy food may also present with similar symptoms. sitting, sneezing or coughing causes anal sphincter to contract leading to irritation too and hence the pain.

A physical evaluation along with few investigations like stool analysis and colonoscopy should give us more answers.

Till than - Have balanced diet, more of fiber and fruits/ have adequate fluid/ avoid smoking or excess caffeine.

Please do not worry, you will be fine.
