I have had a yellow watery discharge from my left ear for over a week. I do not have any pain in my ear but my hearing has reduced in this ear. I have often suffered with ear infections which cause me great pain but this time I have no pain at all.

Thanks for this excellent question

You are very wise to ask about this.

This is a problem called otitis externa. It is an infection of the external ear canal. These often don't cause pain. The inner/middle ear infections cause pain from swelling and pressure.

I recommend you see a doctor for this.

You will need a course of antibiotic ear drops. That is really the only way to get rid of it.

I hope this helps.
