hello would you like to chat on this?
how long have you been having this? is there any rash in the area?
Its been over 3 weeks and doesn't appear to have a rash
in that case shingles is ruled out
shingles would have caused a blistery rash by now
also it is painful and not just a cold feeling
yes the dr thought it could be but ruled that out also
instead this is a form of dysesthesia
Such unusual sensations in various parts of the body are called dysesthesia.
Dysesthesias occur due to weakness of the nerves - diabetes, thyroid disorders, stress, anxiety, aging, cause this - most commonly occurs without any known cause.
is there a treatment?
Take some general measures - maintain optimum weight,
, regular exercise
, healthy diet like salads,
I stopped smoking 12 months ago and have put on quite a bit of weight
avoiding smoking and excessive drinking
vitamin B supplements
Is there a cream at all that may help?
the weight loss may take a while
vitamin B supplements are useful in this - get a good supplement at the local chemist
Medicines like gabapentin and lyrica are prescribed for this - discuss this with your doctor - they will give you relief.
this is if symptoms are severe
discuss about dysesthesias with your doctor
tests like nerve conduction tests can help in diagnosis - discuss this
the general measures i suggested will help
discuss about the medicines with your doctor
ok that's very helpful as my dr seems to have gotten off track with it.
if symptoms are very troubling, they can help you
glad to help
discussing in this way will help get you an informed discussion
