I think a hematologist evaluation is reaonable, though I do not think that this isolated platelet count of 113 is, by itself, worrisome.
It seems that this is being done out of an abuncance of caution, trying to make sure there is no underlying marrow or blood disorder.
If this is the only lab abnormality she has then I think the hematologist will likely give her a clean bill of health.
do u think is low to the point of suffrring any stroke or nlood clotting issuessnd also having to be put in hospital and also do u think it can be caused by aspirin
can you stand by one minute for me to gather some info?
this is not dangerously low. having low platelets, and her counts are not dangrously low
makes it LESS likely that clots will form.
as to your question about medicine.... give me one minute.
she is on aspirin, lasix (furosemide), metofrmin, and blood pressure pills.
do you know what her blood pressure medicines are?
HERE IS A GOOD LINK REGARDING LOW PLATELETS AND THE CAUSES
and yes, aspirin could cause mildly low platelets by itself.
yes propraponol 160 furosemide 40 mg and kozaar 100 akopodipine 10
stand by for me to check on those drugs, though as I mentioned. aspririn alone could be the cause.
metformin will not cause this
propranolol will not cause this
furoseminde can cause low platelet count
Cozaar will not cause this
amlodipine will not cause this
so, in summary, your mom has slightly low platelets (thrombocytopenia)
this alone should be fully checked by the hematologist, but there is every reason to suspect that this may be medication related.
do you have any other questions for me about this?
thank u will see what hematllogist will thank u for everything
Thank you so much for your question. It was a pleasure talking with you. Should you need my assistance in the future simply start your question with ‘for 911doc only’.
Positive feedback is always appreciated.
she had blod work done that day and it was 134 and then last weeknhry did it again and it was at 124. she has stop the aspirin.
These small variations in counts are par for the course especially with platelets. This is nothing to be concerned about. They will follow her counts over time. Trends are much more important than numbers in this case. She had a good upward trend, and now an inconsequential mild downward tick. The hematologist, I'm sure, will be very thorough and, very likely, tell you that her slightly low platelets are probably due to medication.
hello how low does her blood platelets have to be for her to have internal bleeding.... just concerned.
but in numbers how much would it be 50 60
70 or what soory for asking so many ???
