i recently had a MRCP for a prominent common bile duct. Findings show a prominent extrahepatic common duct , without evidence of an obstruction.also noted to have mild prominence of the intraheptic biliary tree, as well as pancras divisum, a normal variant.HIDA scan done last April was normal, I was scheduled for an ERCP test next week. Do you think this is the appropriate test or step towards diagnoses for me?
Hello, this is Dr. David. I have read your question and am ready to help.yes, an ERCP will be able to go into the bile duct, and follow it up to see if there is any obstruction anywhere which might be causing the ductal dilation. it would be best if they could do an endoscopic ultrasound ERCP, but if they don't have ultrasound capabilities, that is ok as well. as your GI doctor doing th eERCP if they can do ultrasounds internally or not.
