John thanks a lot for your input. Dizziness comes from three systems of the body.Ears, heart & brain. Spinning is characteristic for ear diseases. But since you don't have any spinning then this makes ear disorder least likely. unsteadiness is characteristic for heart related and blood pressure related disorders. Medicines can cause unsteadiness as a side effect also. Heart rhythm disorders and low blood pressure are the most common cause for unsteadiness. Brain disorders can cause both spinning and unsteadiness. So anyone presenting with dizziness should get a CT scan brain, pure tone audiometry (not always but usually when there is ear ringing and decreased hearing associated) and EKG at least. Further investigations can be decided according to the results of the above investigations. I have tried to answer your basic question, but if you need to know any further detail specifically, I am here to help you and i would like to mention that its my speciality to deal with dizziness. I wish you good luck that you get well soon. Your positive feedback will be appreciated, regards.
