I am online and happy to help you with your question today.
The first thing that you need to do is not panic. Right now all that is really known is that you have a new breast mass and the radiologist thinks it looks like it needs to be biopsied.
The only way to know with 100% certainty what this is would be to get a sample and let the pathologist look at it.
Suspicion does NOT mean cancer!
I have family members who have survived decades after a diagnosis of breast cancer so,yes, it is survivable. But let's not go there yet. Just get the biopsy and then go from there.
Also, as far as I know, there have been no studies that have shown a correlation between marijuana use breast cancer at all.....so nothing to worry about here.
Does this make sense to you?
Yes, it does. One more question, does the size of the mass matter at this point as to whether I can survive this, assuming that it is cancer? There was no indication of any mass at all 14 months ago, is that usual? I'm just wondering if it's unusually agressive.
My wife had a beast mass this winter that "needed to be biopsied" and it was a benign thing....
I, personally, believe in yearly mammograms just for this reason but the size is not as important as would be the microscopic morphology and if it has spread to lymph nodes.
But, once again, you are way, way ahead of things....stop thinking of this bump as cancer. I know, easy to say.....hard to do.....
One more question, sorry, if it is cancer is it possible it's been caught early enough to survive this?
Survival is always a possibility.....so, the answer is yes. As you said, it was not there last year.....
How old are you by the way?
ok. This discussion would be different if you were 23 with a breast mass......
why? just curious
Don't run out and max up your credit cards at this point thinking you won't have to pay them back ;)
Young girls don't do well with breast masses.........just my personal professional experience from back in my medical school days....
While the maxing out of the credit cards sounds fun, I will take your advice and hold off on that. Thank you very much for your excellent service.
My pleasure. Try to relax and just wait for the pathology report. I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you :)
