It has gotten so bad that she says that the inside part of her thigh is numb.I know that she had an abortion when she was younger but she is only 30.When we have sex, she sometimes is in so much pain around the same area, that i have had to take her to the hospital.NOTHING has been able to stop that pain from comin back. THis time around the pain isnt really going away. What do i do for her

Pain in the hip area is usually due to"
1. muscle strain, especially the psoas muscle
2. ovary cysts in women
3. disk disease causing nerve compression
4. hip socket issues
All of these can be evaluated by ultrasound (U/S), Computerized Tomograph (CT) scan , or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
well the pain isnt in the hip
A pelvic exam would be indicated first off to be sure this is not a female proble
it is around her overy area
As I said,a pelvic is needed now.
She could have a pelvic mass.
Does this make sense?
right side of stomach.
Stomach or pelvic area; they're very different.
ok i am trying to be as clear as i can.
the oelvic area is just above the vigina?
Pelvic is around the vagina and beneath the navel.
Stomach is ABOVE the navel.
But stomach pain does not cause pain during intercourse.
well its below the navel to the right side
If her thigh is numb, this indicates nnerve compression of the lumbar spine nerves.
What we look for in medicine is a unifying diagnosis.
That is, ONE thing to explain MULTIPLE issues.
ok
To me, that is a nerve issue.
If it's the anterior thigh, that means nerve root L3, which is seen by MRI of the lumbar spine.
cause by what?
they will also be able to see her female parts.
It's caused by vertebrae disk disease.
It gets tweaked, compressed,or damaged by something, and the disk now hits the nerve and irritates it.
The disk has NO right to do that; it should stay where it belongs.
But some are pretty nosey and stick into places they don't belong.
And that means trouble for the spinal nerves. I just had mine removed for pain in MY thigh.
Ouch!!
So, Here's my plan of action in a numbered list. At the end, I'll write "I'M DONE" so you can reply. So, here it goes...
1. See the gynecologist for a complete pelvic and PAP
2. Have her examine the belly as well
3. See the primary care physician (PCP) and request an MRI of the lumbar spine and pelvic area
That should get you the answer you seek.
nobody should have to suffer. Worse, it interferes with her sex life, and that can be miserable.
Are you still there?
it does
Any other questions I can answer for you today?
but the fact that she has done the mri and paps and nothing has come up
what does this mean
And no, I can't fix the painn because there is no diagnosis yet.
the MRI had to look at the lumbar spine; I don't know if they did that.
you'd have to ask.
so u r saying that it may be a nerve problem?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.
And if so, that means a neurosurgeon consult.
ok i c
so can that be a reason we cant seem to get pregnant
No, not related at all.
Nerves don't affect pregnancy.
If intercourse is painful, that means less frequent sex, and THAT may be the issue.
infertility is defined as the absence of conception after 13 months of trying twice/month.
The gynecologist can help with that.
Anything else I can do for you?
well i will have her visit the gyne
last question
What is it?
so the first doc to send her to is a gyne, then a neurosurgeon?
yes, that's correct.
Be sure there is nothing with the ovaries or uterus, such as fibroids.
thanks a lot
Are you satisfied with all my advice today? Yes or No? If not, what else can I answer for you?
