I'm ashamed of talking to doctors about my diagnosis of chlamydia. I've been telling them I have 1 partner. But I've had multiple partners aside from a steady partner I am committed to. I am very emotionally disturbed from my situation, but i know i should share it to get efficient answers. My last contact with my steady partner was 8 months ago. I know him well enough that he wouldn't cheat on me and I admit I'm guilty of being the cheater without him knowing a clue. After having rocky roads in our realtionship and being diagnosed, I have realized how much i care for this relationship and that I'm praying for a possibility that i could have caught this std before we had contact.I went for a general check-up and diagnosed last month. I was prescribed azithromycin, but i was told there was no need for me to go back for a follow up. I had unprotected sex with 2 men a month before I was diagnosed. I also like to follow the calender method for birth control without the use of condoms. With the first man, he had no symptoms after our contact. With the second man, he started having symptoms about a week after our contact. I was with the first man again after the second man, then he started to have symptoms after that. Me and the first man are suspecting it was from the second man since he has been instructed by his doctor to visit after a dose of azithromycin. He has been given doxycycline and a series of injections he hasn't told what was given within a month. But his last contact was seven months before me, claimed he has been using condoms except for me, and he has never had chlamydia-like symptoms before me. The first man is sure it has been contacted by me since he abstains.I'm very disgusted with myself as well and hoping I can still have a chance to fix all my mistakes without affecting my relationship with my committed partner. Is there a possibility that me and the first man are correct? Could my steady partner still be clean? Is our fertility at stake if it has been in our systems that long? I just went to see a ob-gyn for a follow-up pap smear. I won't get to see my steady partner until the next eight months. If there is any other advice and information that can be provided, I would definitely appreciate it.

Dear Jacustomer ,I am sorry to know about your medical diagnosis of chlamydia ,There is no test to confirm who had chlamydia earlier , whether that was your first or second partner , the reason behind , std may not present with symptoms (incubation period ) and a person may be infected . So it could be either your first or second partner .There are no tests to confirm that who was earlier infected with chlamydia as we do blood serology tests for chlamydia .Your partner may have not go std if you had taken azithromycin before you had sex with him .Chlamydia can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease , can affect fertility but it seems unlilkely as you did not get PID symptoms but still I will recommend that always use protection .I am not her to judge anybody but for yourself , it is better to always use protection (condoms ) .I am also suggesting condoms as there is always a risk of getting other std like hiv , so do ask your partner to use condoms .
Thanks

How about if my pap smear arrives negative? Isn't it that if chlamydia detected early is easily treated with the given antibiotic? As for the second man had to keep going back for visits and different series of medications.
Your pap smear has no association with chlamydia , it is been associated with HPV infection .Some people(second partner ) can get resistant infection (prostatitis ) so it may require repeat antibiotics , it depends on every individual immune system . It does not suggest that your second partner was a long term carrier of chlamydia , could be a possibility but there is no way to confirm it . There is no data suggesting that chlamydia if found early can be treated easily than if found later , the only difference is the complications from chlamydia if found later .
but my second pap smear was suppose to be my follow up from my first one that detected i was positive for chlamydia. are my doctors doing something wrong here?
Your doctor must have send serology tests for chlamydia during pap smear .He must have called you to again to be sure that chlamydia infection is eradicated .Pap smear has no association with chlanydia so do discuss this with the doctor.
Or could it be i understood wrong? My doctor just said she'll be collecting my cultures & the procedure seemed the same as a pap smear.
You could have understood wrong , that could be a possibility .Collecting cultures from cervix is for chlamydia , it seems same but that is different from pap smear .
