Customer Question

Hello,I am a 39 year old male with no medical conditions. I have had a high temp (up to 39.5 C, now 37.7 ) and loss of appetite for at least five days now and have been feeling a little lethargic since a heavy session of exercise one week ago following a couple of days of hectic work and insufficient sleep.

My only other symptoms have been a very mild headache. I have not had a sore throat, diarrhoea, rashes or a cold.

Although I am confident I have made good progress in ridding myself of whatever it is in the last 24 hours, I am still a little concerned at the length of time.

I have taken some Tylenol from last Sunday and stopped this at lunchtime yesterday.

Optional Information:
Person's Gender: Male
Person's Age: 39

Already Tried:
Tylenol, drinking lots of water, rest

Hello
A flu like virus can last up to 10 days.
Here are the things to look for

Is fever breaking..coming down.
Are symptoms getting better even if gradually.

Can you take fluids
Can you take light foods.

If there any sign of a secondary infection
productive cough
shortness of breath
urinary pain
ear pain
throat pain
These would be progressing if serious.

If the headache is getting better, ok...if not...then you need to be seen.
5 days is about enough time to wait without exam.

Let me know if you have further questions, details or need clarification, just use reply.......DrThomasMd41039.5932224537

Thanks Dr Thomas

Definitely none of the other symptoms you have referred to. In your opinion, are these symptoms possibly explained by being generally 'run down'?

a temperature increase would be explained by viral illness
You don't get a 39 temp from being run down.
Hence more of a need for exam.
