I developed a wart on my penis about 15 years ago that went

This answer was rated:

I developed a wart on my penis about 15 years ago that went away in a few weeks. I've never been treated. Now, when I ejaculate, I don't produce as much sperm and sometimes there a small globules mixed in. Given that it has been so long is this still something that is treatable or not? I recently met someone I would like to get involved with but I don't want to and won't subject her to any risk until i find out. I'm 54 years old, a smoker and casual drinker.
Your answer would be appreciated

Mysticdoc :

Hello

Mysticdoc :

Thanks for your question.

Mysticdoc :

Genital warts are caused by the HPV virus.

Mysticdoc :

This is not treatable.

Mysticdoc :

But the body gradually eliminates the virus over time.

Mysticdoc :

If you never had any break out in last 15 years, it is very unlikely you have the virus in your body.

Mysticdoc :

This can be checked by checking the penile urethra swabs for HPV virus.

Customer:

What about the diminished amount of sperm and the globules mixed in

Mysticdoc :

that is not related to the genital warts.

Mysticdoc :

THis can be due to the testosterone deficiency.

Customer:

are there other std's that generate warts?

Mysticdoc :

no

Mysticdoc :

get your testosterone level checked.

Mysticdoc :

also prostate problem can cause this.

Mysticdoc :

Enlarged prostate should be checked out also.

Customer:

is there anyway to have safe sex with the hpv virus?

Mysticdoc :

yes, use condoms.

Mysticdoc :

and if you test negative for HPV virus, then unprotected sex is also ok.

Customer:

what type of doctor should I see?

Mysticdoc :

you can see your family doctor.

Mysticdoc :

Or you can see a specialist called urologist.

Customer:

do many men my age suffer from low testosterone?

Mysticdoc :

yes this is common and often overlooked.

Customer:

would treatment increase the amount of sperm produced?

Mysticdoc :

yes likely.

Customer:

and get rid of the globules?

Mysticdoc :

yes likely.

Mysticdoc :

also drink plenty of fluids.

Mysticdoc :

avoid smoking and drink minimally.

Customer:

how could i have developed the wart and not be infected?

Mysticdoc :

natural supplements like Ashwagandha will also help.

Mysticdoc :

you got infected and that showed up as warts.

Customer:

what type of test should i ask the doctor to perform?

Mysticdoc :

ask for urethra swab to look for HPV.

Mysticdoc :

then serum free testosterone level.

Customer:

Can the family doctor do this or should I go straight to a urologist?

Mysticdoc :

the family doctor can do this.

Customer:

ok, i haven't had any break outs since the one wart 15 years ago. Is it likely that I am no longer infected?

Mysticdoc :

yes likely you are clear

Customer:

I'm still going to go and get checked

Mysticdoc :

yes definitely for your good.

Customer:

one last thing. are there any other std tests you would recommend that I should have performed?

Mysticdoc :

gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV also should be checked.

Mysticdoc :

but without any symptoms, these are very unlikely.

Customer:

one thing, i do get some itching at the base of my penis

Mysticdoc :

any rash?

Customer:

no

Mysticdoc :

ok

Mysticdoc :

then this is not concderning.

Mysticdoc :

this can be from sweating.

Customer:

ok. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed but I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow. How long does it usually take to get the results back after the tests?

Mysticdoc :

within 3-4 days

Customer:

That's all? Great!

Mysticdoc :

yes

Mysticdoc :

best wishes,
