If you have not seen any blood in stool, then this can still be a viral illness.
Viral illness can take 5-7 days sometimes to clear up.
You can take loperamide ( imodium) tablets to stop the diarrhea.
Continue with fluids, anf liquid diet.
Advance as tolerated.
If your diarrhea does not improve at all, in next 2-3 days, then bacterial infection is a possibility.
Then this requires clinical evaluation and probably a course of antibiotics.

Is it normal to have leg and back pain with a viral illness?
yes it is
in fact that is more suggestive of viral illness.
So a virus, meaning it's not food poisoning or anything like that? I guess I assumed that most viruses typically have upper respiratory symptoms. Thank you for your help.
viruses also can affect the stomach like rota virus, noro virus etc.
This should get better.
