Large intestion infection and chicken pox. 40 year old woman. No kids. I'm he husband. We seperated. I live in different state over one year. We had noe sex of any kind in 5 years. She is ushally in verry good health proven by blood and doctor results in the past years. We still talk. Divorce pending in few months. She was under a lot of stress in business life. I'm really dumb but this does not add up. She in hospt 7 days. MGH Boston. Matt

Intestinal infection is also known as colitis or diverticulitis. Antibiotics are used initially IV then oral after improvement. Chicken pox is caused by viral infection. This improves by itself over 7-10 days. Complications are rare, but may make prone to bacterial infection. Intestinal infection may be due to that. Best wishes to her and speedy recovery,

Is this a start of a longterm prolblem? Are their any other cases like this? What is related to both infections.

long term problem may not happen.
but diverticulitis may recur in some cases.
High fiber diet helpful after recovery to prevent further problems.
both infections are suggestive of weakened immunity.
Diabetes, Malignancy or other chronic illnesses can cause this.
Sometimes, this can happen without any apparent reasons.
Yes there are cases like this. Not very uncommon.
