My temperature is 97.9. Feel feverish and get chills.

This answer was rated:

Feel feverish, but temperature only 97.9%. Get chills, cold hands, cold feet sometimes (head feels warm). Occasionally, feel very thirsty and need to drink 3-4 liters of water per day. Feeling like this for past 2 months. Medical history: hypo-thyroid a few years ago, but took test a few months ago and looked normal. Medications: Vyvanse Lifestyle: 10-12 hours working in front of computer, 1 hour of yoga per day.

Dr Wajid :

Hi and welcome to just answer

Have you been taking Syn-thyroid for hypothyroidism? When did you have your last thyroid tests?

Customer :

No. not on Syn-thyroid. I had my last test, 4-6 months ago and looked normal

Dr Wajid :

Well I think you need to get your thyroid functions repeated.

Customer :

Could it be onset of flu or common cold though?

Dr Wajid :

Yes, that can be a possibility. It appears to be a viral infection but I would still be interested in looking at your thyroid profile

Dr Wajid :

And until then you can use Tab Tylenol to help you with your symptoms

Customer :

Tab Tylenol or just regular acetaminophen?

Dr Wajid :

It is the same, Tylenol is actually acetaminophen

Customer :

No need for antibiotics if viral infection, correct?

Dr Wajid :

Yes, antibiotics are for bacterial infections not for viral

Customer :

Okay, thanks much

Dr Wajid :

You are welcome
