My blood has a strong metallic smell, like iron. I cut my head and I could smell it before I even knew it was cut!
It was a tiny scratch which didn't bleed much but why could I smell it so well?
It hasn't been that way before.
How long have you noticed it?Any medical conditions like thyroid problems, etc.?
Blood naturally has a metallic odor.Normally the odor is quite faint. For a strong odor, you should check out principally on hormonal changes (which you probably already have since you have PCOS), any heavy metal poisoning or liver and kidney diseases. You should discuss these conditions with your doctor at your next appointment.Usually clinical examinations will be sufficient to rule them out, but you may also need further investigations if anything is suspected.Hence you should discuss these specific conditions with your doctor and ask for them to be ruled out.I hope my answer has helped you.
I had been tested for liver damage after taking Metformin.
They said the enzymes did not show normal.
Could that be a factor?
Yes, that may well be a cause. You should discuss with your doctor about repeating the tests.
