Well, the normal range of values for ALT called Aminotransferase (SGPT) is from 7 to 56 units per liter of serum. In your case reading is 46 , It is completely normal.
The ranges of ALT numbers may differ slightly depending on the technique and protocols used by different laboratories.

This test is a fairly specific indicator of liver status. It is completely normal, no need to worry or panic.

:)Please feel free for any follow up query.

THIS TEST WAS DONE IN A HOSPITAL AND THEY HAVE A NORMAL RANGE OF 10-30, WHY IS YOUR RANGE 7-56.
Expert:  Dr. Robert replied 5 years ago.
Well, the normal ranges of ALT numbers may differ slightly depending on the technique and protocols used by different laboratories.
Also the normal reference ranges are routinely provided by each laboratory and printed in the report.

In your case the reference range is 10-30. Your ALT levels are 46, Further detailed checkup and blood test have to be done for finding the cause for this slight elevation in ALT levels.
You should ask your doctor for- AST (SGOT) levels.
Also Even in conditions when AST and ALT are very elevated, the liver may function properly.

To check for liver functioning you need to undergo more tests like-
-Coagulation panel
-Albumin level
-Bilirubin levels
-Platelet count

If any of these tests is abnormal then liver disease is diagnosed.
Many times healthy person have slightly elevated ALT levels.

At this time, considering the finding of only ALT your condition doesnot sounds serious.
But a clinical evaluation is necessary by your Physician.

Good luck and take care.

Kind regards
Dr Robert.
