Hi,My wife has had a Knee Replacement done on the 27th June, she came home after 6 days in Hospital, and for the past 5 days has been rehabing at home. She is doing all the execises and working through the discomfort well, she visited her Physio yesterday and the Physio was please with her progress, and happy with a bend of 75 at this point. The only problem she has at this point is the lack of sleep, not because of the pain but because she is not sleeping well as she is only sleeping on her back, she belives she should keep her knee straight while she sleeps!I thought that she should be able to sleep on her side and that if her knees bends that would not be a problem as she is always being told to bend her knee in recovery.Just trying to let her get more sleep, can you advise your thoughtsKind RegardsXXXXX XXXXX.
Optional Information: Gender: Female Age: 60 Already Tried: Nurses at Epworth, who thought it would be ok to sleep on her side and bend the knee.
Hello
Welcome to just answer.
I am here to answer you .
Not sure what I do here, Do you answer my original question now?
Yes..
I was waiting for you to get online and join the conversation .
I have gone through your question .
Ok , what do you think?
I am sorry to hear of your wife's discomfort.
She can change her position and try and sleep
After surgery anxiety also causes disturbed sleep .
She should continue with her physiotherapy.
If she does not get good sleep then you can discuss the option of getting her a medicine like alprazolam as it helps decrease anxiety and helps bring on sleep .
The knee bending will not cause a problem either .
I hope you are getting my point ?
Thanks that was the answer we were hoping for.
