Hello and thanks for your question.Unfortunately, it is common for children to get sick 1-2 times per month, especially if it is the first time they are in a setting with other kids, such as daycare or school. It sounds like she could have an aspect of reactive airway disease (RAD) or mild asthma as well. This is a very common cause of cough in children. Sometimes RAD or asthma will get worse with allergies or colds, and in some kids they only have symptoms when they get allergies or a cold.Based on her history, I think that her doctors may recommend a long-acting antihistamine, such as Claritin, to help her symptoms. After her doctor does an exam, he or she may also decide that she needs another type of inhaler that she uses daily to help control the RAD or asthma cough.Just to reassure you, nothing in her history sounds concerning for cancer, but of course, only her doctors who see and treat her are able to tell you exactly what is going on.I hope that helps, but please let me know if you have questions.
