Although to be completely honest with you, if you are having severe pain, difficulty swallowing and difficulty breathing, there is not a whole lot more that can be done other than giving you antibiotics if you have a bacterial infection, steroids for swelling of the tonsils, pain medication and IV fluids if you cannot eat or drink.
If you are not receiving pain medication or steroids, those would be two things I would ask for along with a test for mono and a strep throat screen. If you do not have a bacterial infection and instead have mono, there is no point in taking antibiotics (mono is viral
