My left hand middle finger does not bend freely and is quite painful if I tryto bend it too far.I have to admit that I am 79 so maybe this might be arthritis. Would surgery be a good ideaif need be. I am otherwise in pretty good shape. I have not yet discussed with my current doctor (group practise)
Optional Information: Age: 79 Already Tried: Nothing I thought time might halp. If I do not move the finger tightly I have no problem at all
Greetings from New York, this is Dr. Jerry E. I'm so glad you asked this question, let me give you some medical information now.
It sounds like you may have arthritis. Surgery is not advisable for this. A hand surgeon or physical therapist could show you exercises you can do to increase flexibility to help with range of motion.
