This answer was rated:

body cramps in arms, hands, shoulders, legs and feet... can happen at any time.. taking 500 mg potassium daily and light workouts at gym 2-3 times a week with bowling twice a week and golfing 1-2 times a week.. I have high blood pressure and take amplodine, micardis and a water pill.. I am 70 years old and very active

Dr Jones :

Were electrolyte levels checked recently?

Customer:

Cant honestly say.. I have numerous bloodtest 4 -5 times a year, but I don't know if they check electrolytes

Customer:

what do you recommend?

Dr Jones :

I suggest you to get them checked , as electrolyte imbalance is most important and common cause of muscle cramps.Even too much of potassium is not good.High blood pressure medication are known to cause electrolyte imbalance hence this possibility needs to be considered.
