Customer Question

50 year old, s/p aortic valve replacement in 1993 (St. Jude's aortic valve), on coumadin 7.5 mg q. day (one day/wk 5 mg.). h/o bladder stone with removal via laser approx. 7 years ago, this was apparently secondary to BPH, declined laser tx for the bph. New sx: lower abdomen burning, in the area of the pubic bone, feeling of fullness, burning decreased slightly with intake of 1 liter of water. no gross hematuria, temp = 98.3 F, HR = 68. Is this possibly a recurrence of the bladder stone, any suggestions for temporary relief? -Alan (former medical social worker, which is how I know the terminology)

doctornihil :

Hello

doctornihil :

Thank you for your question.

JACUSTOMER-fiijh70x- :

hi, this is my first time using this system.

JACUSTOMER-fiijh70x- :

hopefully I gave you enough info....

JACUSTOMER-fiijh70x- :

what do you think of my bladder stone hypothesis?

doctornihil :

It sounds like a UTI (Urinary trac infection.) You can drink cranberry juice and meanwhile be tested for that, also bladder stone is a possibility but infection is more likely, although they can also happen together.

JACUSTOMER-fiijh70x- :

hmm, haven't had any sex recently, but I suppose at UTI is possilbe even without it (more the pity...)

JACUSTOMER-fiijh70x- :

I understand UTI's in males are less frequent but perhaps not unheard of....

doctornihil :

Yes.

JACUSTOMER-fiijh70x- :

I understand blueberries also have the same chemical that helps as cranberries, perhaps I will try both.

doctornihil :

Yes you can try both and continue with which ever one best works for you.

JACUSTOMER-fiijh70x- :

just wanted to let you know about this, it may be useful to look up.

JACUSTOMER-fiijh70x- :

thanks for your help.
