Hi. Welcome to JustAnswer. I shall try my best to assist you while you are corresponding with me.

Dr Uzair :

Can you please be more specific about what you want to ask regarding poor circulation of the upper limbs? Has this been diagnosed in you case by a Physician? What tests have been performed?

JACUSTOMER-fwe81qml- :

no, this has not been diagnosed by a physician ... what could be the possible causes of poor circulation in this area of my body & how would a physician diagnose this ... sorry to say, i'm just now applying for medicare

Dr Uzair :

Possible causes are Atherosclerosis (Formation of plaques and deposits in the blood vessels) that can occlude flow of blood.

Dr Uzair :

Atherosclerosis has many risk factors, smoking, increased cholesterol levels, male gender, hypertension, diabetes etc are some of the major ones.

Dr Uzair :

Other causes of poor circulation are Raynaud's phenomenon.

Dr Uzair :

Thoracic outlet syndrome.

JACUSTOMER-fwe81qml- :

if atherosclerosis is possible what could be a Natural treatment & what's raynaud's phenomenon, thoracic outlet syndrome

Dr Uzair :

Atherosclerosis can occur in anyone, and there is some degree of atherosclerosis in every individual.

Dr Uzair :

The treatment s to reduce the risk factors.

Dr Uzair :

For example, if some is genetically predisposed to having high levels of lipids or cholesterol, s/he may have to restrict fatty diet and carbohydrates.

Dr Uzair :

Lipid lowering drugs and foods that contain a high level of Good Cholesterol (HDL) should be added to the diet.

Dr Uzair :

A doctor diagnoses poor circulation on the history and clinical examination with some tests such as CT angio or a duplex ultrasound scan.

JACUSTOMER-fwe81qml- :

fatty diet would be what ... foods w/hi level of good cholesterol is what

Dr Uzair :

Fatty diet will be dairy products, animal fat, oily food, barbecues, fried food such as fried chicken.

Dr Uzair :

Good cholesterol is found in foods such as grains, seeds, nuts, almonds, walnuts etc.

Dr Uzair :

Lemon peel is also effective for reducing atherosclerosis as a natural remedy.

Dr Uzair :

Beet juice, parsley.

Dr Uzair :

Exercise is a must to reduce cholesterol.

Dr Uzair :

Vitamin C -- Citrus fruits, reduces blood thickening and clotting.

JACUSTOMER-fwe81qml- :

i eat lean chick/fish, use olive oil, canola oil, no barbecues, very, very rare fried chick ... i do make a nice fried almond burger (fried in olive oil) ... drink plenty of lemon/lime juice during summer

Dr Uzair :

That's good.

Dr Uzair :

It is vital to get this diagnosed as a problem with circulation due to atherosclerosis.

Dr Uzair :

Some people are genetically predisposed to having high cholesterol.

Dr Uzair :

So, it is imperative you get your Fasting lipid profile done, to see if you have high cholesterol or not.

JACUSTOMER-fwe81qml- :

i guess that's it ... thank you for your time
