I have had annual mammograms - all normal. This weekend I noticed that my right breast nipple is inverted. It looks as if there is a large crater, which appears red. Should I worry?

Good evening
How long has the nipple been inverted?
And also, when was your last mammogram?
I only noticed it this weekend.
One year ago
So prior to this weekend, the nipple was normal?
I know this is a private subject, but was there any foreplay with your breast or nipple manipulation befor this was noticed?
It had flattened, but would appear normal with a bit of stimulation.
Yes
If you were to stimulate it now, does it still stay inverted? Is there any pain?
It stays inverted, and feels sore.
Yesterday there was a tiny bit of yellow film over the reddish crater
I am scared that it is cancer. Could it possibly be an infection?
Well, this could be do to a few different things. If there was excessive foreplay this weekend, it could be due to overuse and overstimulation - kind of like a chafing effect. There are certain forms of breast cancer that affect the nipple as such (and may not show up on a mammogram), but it wouldn't be something that happens overnight. However, you are due for a mammogram and definitely suggest you get that done. In the interim, I would suggest applying some neosporin cream to the area and leave it alone for a few days to see if it resolves.
I will do that. Thank you.
No problem. Either way, you are due for your one year follow-up, so even if it gets better please still go for your annual breast exam and mammo!
Absolutely! Again - thanks. I am about to push the accept button.
