I have white lines on my toenails. What could cause this?
The white lines on toe nail can be due to;
1) fungal infection
2) with the increasing age (involve most of the toe nails)
3) lichen planus
4) habit of scratching the toe nails
Please feel free for your follow up questions.
It doesn't seem infected, just hard. It's on one of my other toe nails on the other foot. What is the treatment for this?
A good diet containing Vitamin C, calcium and Vitamin D will take care of these white lines and this is not related to any disease process. You may get a multivitamin-multimineral supplement from the health store.
It is pleasure and privilege assisting you.
Okay, but what will make the lines go away that I have on there right now? It doesn't seem to grow out when I cut my nails.
The nails are formed by the keratin. Minerals and amino acids forms this keratin, which may get slight structural abnormality during the formation and gives the white lines. Just the supplements are good enough to correct the formation of the nail Keratin in translucent form without lines or minor ridging. No other treatment is required.
