Thank you for the additional information,
In answer to your question, you can have a sore throat on only one side.
In adults, most of the time sore throats are due to viral
infections. If it persists more than 5-7 days or if you develop fever over 100.3, swollen glands, pus on the tonsils
, difficulty swallowing or worsening symptoms then I would see your doctor for an exam.
Other things that can lead to a sore throat include acid reflux (heartburn) and postnasal drainage. If you have heartburn, try using tums or maalox and see if this makes a difference. If you have postnasal drainage, use a decongestant.
Other things you can use for your sore throat include ibuprofen, warm salt water gargles, warm and cold fluids and throat numbing sprays and lozenges.
