Does hydrocodone and codeine show up the same on urine toxicology screens?
Optional Information: Gender: femaleAge: 46 Already Tried: n/a
Hello,
This depends on the sensitivity of the urine test.
if it is a standard five panel screen?
Relist: Incomplete answer.the question was vaguely answered and should have been more completely addressed.
The answer to this question isn't a simple YES or NO answer. Many screening drug tests such as those sold over-the-counter for home use, and those used in hospital emergency rooms may give a positive for opiates with both of these medications.Standard pre-employment drug tests and other drug tests that had GC/MS confirmation would NOT however show these two drugs as the same. The GC/MS confirmation (basically a "chemical fingerprint" of the substance) would be able to tell the difference between these two medications. The standard 5-panel drug test (used in the DOT testing) does not actually detect the hydrocodone, but it would detect the codeine.
