So not excecising (for years) in itself will not make my muscles in back and shoulders and neck hurt. I do move around doing everyday things , but have not been able to walk more then 20 minutes in about 6 years. I have had 2 back surgeries and am not feeling more muscles aches through out the body. My dr, is looking into other causes, but I always feel like maybe I need to do more. Someone mentioned that lack of exercise can make the muscles ache over your saying that is NOT true?

Lack of exercise is not a cause for muscle aches by itself.
