Resolved Question:

what is the difference between depomedrol and solumedrol?

Depo-Medrol and Solu-Medrol are both methylprednisolone, which is the same medication.

Depo-Medrol is a suspension (liquid formulation) and Solu-medrol is a powder that needs to be reconstituded in to a liquid before injection.

Depo-medrol is methylprednisolone acetate and Solu-medrol is methylprednisolone sodium succinate.
Different formulations of the same drug.
Only Solu-medrol form can be given IV.
I hope that answers your question. If you have more questions, let me know.

so, if it is used for tendon injections, is one more effective than the other?
Expert:  Dr. Abby replied 7 years ago.
Depo-Medrol is a longer acting injection, so that would be used for a tendon injection.
