Hello & Welcome to Just Answer,

You could be having this specific problem, a kind of asthma called as ‘cough variant asthma’ or CVA, which may be getting overlooked. The only symptom is chronic cough. Please check in with your doctor and you may discuss this possibility with him/ her.

You can have a look at this resource for more information:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1672866?ordinalpos=1&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DiscoveryPanel.Pubmed_Discovery_RA&linkpos=5&log$=relatedreviews&logdbfrom=pubmed

Hope that this helps. Best wishes. Please feel free to enquire if you have any remaining concerns or doubts. It shall be my privilege to help you as much as I possibly can.

How do I stop the ichy, tickle in my throat. As for your pay I paid that with my Visa card , maybe they are slow paying you but I'm not.I expected more of an answer for 18.00........

A post nasal drip may cause a tickle in your throat. A relook by an ENT specialist wont be a bad idea. At the same time your sinuses can also be examined.

Or maybe you could also have a dentist have a look in your mouth to see if there are any hidden pockets of infection which could be leading to this tickle in the throat. At times, use of dentures or ill fitting dentures could also cause such a problem.

A recheck for CVA at the time of persistent symptoms and maybe from a different specialist could also help.

Hope that this helps. Best wishes. Nevertheless I am opting out so that some other expert may be able to help you better.

No doubt your allergies contribute to your cough, and other environemntal factors may contribute as well (pets, household cleaners, type of carpet/rugs, outside flora).
However, if you have pre-existing reactive airway disease (RAD) that is subclinical (i.e. very mild or even asymptomatic), adding certain medication(s) can make it worse. Lopressor or metoprolol is a blood pressure medicine but it also works on certain receptors in lungs and can tighten the airway ducts and cause cough, throat tightness and shortness of breath. In fact, it is contraindicated in patients with such problems. If your RAD got slightly worse over the years and/or your Lopressor dose was increased, it can make symptoms worse. One of the Xyzal's side effects is cough and dry mouth.
Your doc should take a closer look at your medication list and try to make a one small change at a time to see if you get better.

Thank you for all your help, I guess what I wanted was for you to give me a quick fix or to have a majic pill to get rid of this awful cough. I have good doctor's that take good care of me. I just hoped you knew of something new...If any thing new come up please keep Carol High in mind. My ENT says I have him stumped n& he went to HARVARD.lol

You are welcome. It's worthwhile to review the medication first. Some blood pressure medicines called ACE inhibitors (like lisinopril; they end in -pril) are notorious for causing chronic cough, but you are not on it from what I see.
There are few magic pills in medicine and it's always worth a try to make sure something you are taking is not causing your problem.
