I have been feeling dizzy and my head feels like its swimming

Resolved Question:

I have been feeling dizzy and my head feels like its swimming for the past week or so. About to weeks ago I had fever and sore throat with a cough my doc prescribed some antibiotics for 5 days fever is gone but throat is still sore first thing in the morning and I have this loopy feeling. Could this be a sinus infection?

When you say diaay, is it like you just got off the merry-go-round and everything's spinning? What antibiotics were you given? Why are you thinking sinus infection?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
not as severe as getting off a merry go round but just a momentary dizzy feeling. I have a history of these sinus infections and I had the pressure in my face and my eye sockets before my doc prescribed the antibiotics. Nose is still congested and I slight pressure over my eyes but I never felt dizzy or had my head swim with a sinus infection before just wondering if that could cause that loopy feeling. My doc prescribed arythromicyn

Vertigo is usually caused by a problem with the semicircular canals of the inner ear--they're our balance coordinators. Any infection above the neck--like otitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis--can cause a problem with vertigo or a "loopy" feeling. You might try a decongestant like Claritin D or Zyrtec D or Dramamine for this. I usually wait at least a week or two before prescribing a different antibiotic when the first one seems to have failed.

How long should I wait after trying the Zyrtec or Claritin before I go back to see my doctor?

At least another 3 days.
