HelloCustomer

I have not heard of this as a supplement.

What are your medical concerns, if any, and why would you wish to take this supplement?|
Thank you.

I'm 66, lead a very active lifeslyle, no chronic diseases only some inherited arthritic problems. Literature is full of claims that this supplement will give me more energy, reduce my pain from arthritis, etc. Do an internet search and you will be see that the reported benefits are great with no side effects. I'm interested in knowing if there are any inherent dangers in taking this stuff.

Hello jl,

Thank you for the additional information.

Please do not believe all you see on the Internet! Supplements, naturopathy, homeopathy are all bunk! Please check out www.jref.org.

The basic problem with such claims is that they have never been scientifically verified (tested against a sugar pill or other sham-treatment). Supplements are not tested nor regulated, so one bottle may contain more or less of the "active" ingredient and more or less toxins. Even natural products are drugs (many of the drugs we currently use came from such originally eg penicillin, taxol (chem drug orig from the Yew tree). As such, these drugs all have side effects. Any claim of all benefit no side effect from an active product is bunk.

Congrats for staying healthy and caring about preserving your health and fitness. Please ask your doctor for recommendations in addition to what you're already doing.

PLEASE do NOT waste your money, time, and risk your health on this sham!

Regards,

Dr. Sivak,

I agree with the lack of support for many of these supplements. However, 25 years back the same was stated by the medical profession about Vitamins, which today you prescribe regularly. So thanks for your time, but I need more "scientific evidence" on this supplement.

Hello jl,

In my opinion that is part of the problem: there is no scientific evidence on supplements because they are not tested for safety or efficacy.

If you do choose to use these supplements from sheep placenta, my most basic concern would be possible transmission of infectious diseases like E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, if the product is not adequately purified and screened.
