WHAT IS CECAL LIPOMA?
Thanks for your question. First of all Lipoma is a benign tumor which is formed of fatty tissue or fat cells. There are many types of Lipoma and most of the common cause is inherited mode. Cecal lipoma is a lipoma in the cecum which is a part of our colon. Colon is the most common site in Gastrointestinal tract getting these Lipomas. Majority of the colon or cecal lipomas are non-symptomatic but few of them give symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal pain, ulceration of the mucosa overlying tumor leading to intestinal blood loss and anemia as a result and other symptoms like obstruction. They are recognised by barium studies, scans (CT, MRI) and endoscopic examinations. The most important thing to remember that they are non-cancerous.
