Mazda Repair Questions? Ask Mechanics for Answers ASAP
Hello, my name is ***** ***** will assist you today. I have seen this before and it is usually a check valve in the fuel pump causing this. What happens is when the vehicle sits for a while, fuel drains out of the fuel rail and lines and back into the fuel tank. Then when you go to start it the fuel pump has to prime the system before it will start. That can take a bit and this is why you have a long crank before it fires. Have a shop connect a fuel pressure gauge and confirm this. Then have the in tank fuel pump replaced. I am pretty sure this is your problem.
