Tailgate latch is broken and won't close. I have tried forcing it open with screwdriver while holding key in open position
JA: Is the key stripped or worn?
Customer: key is ok. Just thought I needed to hold open while I played with latch
JA: What is the model/year of your Mazda?
Customer: 2003
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I am hoping to fix myself. I have unscrewed latch from door frame, but I cannot figure out how to release rods holding it in place to take it out. I think I need to replace the latch mechanism. I need a diagram of the door and latch, and sequence instructions for removing and replacing latch.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
