Customer Question

I have a 2007 Mazda CX-7 that experiences intense jerking on acceleration. After about 10 miles of driving the condition goes away and drives like normal. I get a CEL code for fuel too lean. The rpms jump even when the car is still. It has trouble going from 2nd to 3rd gear. IV had the oxygen sensor replaced and it Acutally solved the problem only for about 150 miles. Now it's back. After doing a lot of research Im suspecting the throttle body to be the culprit. Does this sound like a throttle body issue? Will cleaning it help? The throttle position sensor is in the body correct? Help is appreciated I have been chasing this problem for months!

Hello my name is***** am an ASE Master Technician and I am glad to help you out with your question.

Lean codes are usually caused by vacuum leaks, I would check the fuel trims with a scan tool while driving. Also you could spray carb cleaner on the intake and vacuum hoses while the engine is at idle and listen for the rpm to change.

Check for vacuum leaks before replacing anything.

Do you know what the exact code was?
