Bought a 2011 Mazda CX 9 used and now am having problems

Customer Question

Bought a 2011 Mazda CX 9 used and now am having problems with the power brake booster.
JA: What is the model of your '11 Mazda?
Customer: I believe it is the Touring model
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I'm thinking about doing it myself because I have read it is very pricey to have a mechanic or dealer fix.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Know, from what I have read, it is definitely the power brake booster

Hi there,

What is the concern with the brakes that leads you to wanting to replace the booster?

I'm asking this first, so you won't be doing unnecessary work.

The you step on the brake it is very hard and then it goes to the floor, if you step on it when it is stopped or in park, it makes a loud hissing sound, like a loud beeeeep!

I guess you are not driving it at the moment?

The pedal goes to the floor?

Some cars are not too bad to replace the booster, yours is about 2 hours.

I would do a brake fluid flush, and ABS bleed after the booster change.

Correct, I am not driving it at the moment. Yes, the pedal will go to the floor after you step on it initially, it is hard to step on, then goes to the floor. Okay, is there anything I can buy that will show me step by step how to remove and replace?

I very much doubt whether you will find a step by step guide for this job, being a fairly late model car.

This is not a job for a non-technical person.

I would get Mazda's opinion before you go much further.
