oil filter on a 2012 CRX 7 2.5 liter oil filter accidentally fell off and I tried to replace it and put it back on but it won't let me screw it back on what is the problem

Customer: It's been about 4 months ago

Customer: It's a 2012 Mazda CRX 7 2.5L

Customer: That's it like I said went to start the car and I looked up on it and I was coming out due to the filter wasn't attached to all the oil came out and I tried to put the old filter back on and it wouldn't let me screw it back on and I bought a new one and it wouldn't let me screw it back on as well

Hi im kevin how does the thread look on the filter housing ?i believe the new filter is the wrong thread and by screwing it on you may have damaged thread on housing
