I have a check engine light on in my 04 mazda 3 hatchback. I took it to several auto part stores and they all say that my obd wont power up the reader
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: Blinks at times
JA: What is the model/year of your Mazda?
Customer: 04
JA: What year is your Mazda?
Customer: 2004
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Changed the spark plugs, I did a coil pack change a year and half ago but recently change the spark plugs
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?

Hello and thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I will help you with this concern.

In most cases providing the scan tool your using is not defective the fact that the scanner will not communicate usually means you have a problem with the PCM (computer) and if in fact that is the case this is going to need to be addressed by your dealer. Have you tried connecting a factory scan tool?

Okay you should be okay if its only every now and then but if the light start flashing on a regular basis then you do NOT want to drive it because it can cause damage to the Catalytic converter.
