Customer Question

Hi Curtis I have a Mazda bravo b2600 petrol 2.6l and I am about the purchase a second hand engine the compression test is showing 182 182 178 (208 on the pot closest to fire wall) does this seem like rather high readings or do you believe it has been rebuilt? Starts fine runs fine no leaks no smoke just worried with the 208 reading

Hi Mick,

I would class that as abnormal.

Whether cylinder 4 is abnormally high, or the other 3 are low, the point is they aren't within 10% of each other.

I would say the 4th cylinder must have a different piston.

Did you do the compression test, or was it done for you?

I would ask for another engine if you are buying from a wrecker etc.
