Hello, the ford escape and mazda tribute which are the same production vehicle had issues with the 3.0 engine burning up the ignition coils when the pcm driver for the coil would stay on at all times and not pulse the coil. Causing it to overheat and melt. With a new pcm and coils it shoould not repeat this issue unles a coil driver wire from the pcm to the coil is shorted in the harness or the vehicle is overcharging or the new pcm is defective. Is it melting the same coils with a new pcm?

the alt is ok

Ok, so whats going on right now then, new pcm and new coils, did you replace all 6 coils? Which cylinders are giving an issue and are they the same ones?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

cylinder 1 first cyl 4 second but 3 computers they cant all be ng i own a shop i have all the stuff to flash it and do the pats system for the security system so no big deal changing them but my wherehouse is getting pissed im sending them back cooked changed all the coils this time and number 4 fryed

Ok so you had an issue with two cylinders # ***** and # ***** Number four is in the front of the engine and easy to get to, Need to verify the wiring for the ignition coil #4 is not pinched, shorted or melted together between the pcm connector for the #4 coil driver circuit and the coil itself, long as the wiring isnt damaged, pinched or melted together, that could cause a repeat coil failure/pcm fauilure. Only thing left is the wiring for the circuit since all the coils are new.

so if i remove the intake again should i check the wires from the coils to the comp. i did a continuity test on the coil wires they r all good but i don't know about the injectors so u think its between the computer and the coils or u think its from the power to the computer i also smell odor of gas one last thing it started initially then it skips then smoke and burned coil/pcm

I think its either a defective pcm or an issue with the wiringbetween the pcm and the coil being either melted together inside the harness causing a short to ground. Continuity test is good between the two, just verify you dont have a short on the pcm driver ground wire with the pcm unplugged. if you do have a short to ground it will smoke the new pcm and coil.
