How do I tighten the serpentine belt on a 1999 Mazda 626? It

Customer Question

How do I tighten the serpentine belt on a 1999 Mazda 626? It has a bad squeal and I'm guessing the belt is loose, but I can't find a place to adjust it.

HI there,

Which engine does the car have in it?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The site is being weird. It's asking for my cc info again. I've already put it in. Plus it's trying to set me up with an appointment with a different mechanic. I also don't have a chat window with you. What is going on? Not sure what to do.
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

I will try to get you the info, not sure why it's asking for cc info again. I am just an expert on the cars, it's not my site.

We can continue here and you can rate after I get you the info.

If you are unable to view my answer or rate, let me know and I can report it.

Okay, I've got you on a different screen now... Screw it, I'm gonna call ya. Sound good?
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Sorry, just to early, and I will need to send you a diagram. If you give me the engine size I am happy to post the info for you.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Looks like you have to call me. I'm still figuring this site out.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I see that you can't call now. So shall we continue?
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Yes, just tell me the engine size and I will get you the info for tightening up the belt.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't know her engine size. She's checking for the manual right now.
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Do you know if it's a 4 or 6 cylinder?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I said it was a 4 cyl before. You didn't get that?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Site is being weird.
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Sorry, I didn't get that.

HERE is a link to the adjustment points. This doesn't have just a serp belt. It has 2 different belts so you will have to determine which is the squeaker.

Let me know if you have any issues with that link. Please remember to rate if it helps.

Thanks.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Okay, I'll check into that when I can get to her car in the next couple of days. Wee hours of the morning right now. So far the link you sent isn't working, so let me just make sure it comes through...
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Yes, please let me know if it doesn't work. It's a PDF format so you need adobe or something like it to open it.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Okay, it worked. Just checking...hers is an LX, not an ES. Is the info the same?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it looks like she has a 2.0L in case that matters.
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

Yes, the info is the same and it only came with the 2.0 four or the 2.5 6 cylinder.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. Get back to you later. Thanks.
Expert:  Mike V. replied 1 year ago.

You are very welcome!
